For Parents
The short version: there is no camera. No photos, no feed, no strangers. Here's exactly why that closes most of the decision for most parents.
The one-sentence version: PingCircle has no camera, so there's no photo sharing, no appearance pressure, and no image-based risk of any kind. There's simply no image to take, save, screenshot, or leak.
No Camera. No Photos. Ever.
PingCircle never requests camera access and never stores a photo anywhere, for anyone. There is no photo picker, no image upload, and no feature, hidden or otherwise, that captures or shares a picture. Instead of a photo, your teen shares one small expressive glyph and an optional 90-character line. That's the entire "post."
This isn't a settings toggle you have to find and turn on. It's not in the app to begin with.
Why This Matters
- No appearance pressure. There's nothing to look good for, no filter to apply, no "bad photo" to worry about.
- No image-based risk. Nothing can be screenshotted, saved, leaked, or used to pressure your teen later, because nothing image-based ever existed.
- No stranger can see anything. There's no public profile and no photo to find even if someone tried.
No Strangers, Ever
Friends are added only two ways: matching an existing phone contact, or accepting a private invite link or QR code sent by someone already in the circle. There is no public profile, no search, no discovery feed, and no "suggested friends." A circle tops out at 12 people, small enough that it's always people your teen already knows.
No Feed. No Scroll.
There's no infinite scroll anywhere in PingCircle. A circle screen is a fixed grid of the people in it, each showing one live Ping. Every Ping (the glyph and optional line) expires after 24 hours. There's no archive to browse, no "on this day," and no algorithm deciding what your teen sees next.
Built-In Safety Tools
- Block and report are available on every social surface in the app: every circle, every member, every Ping.
- On-device text moderation screens every message before anyone else can see it, with self-harm language routed to crisis resources.
- Age gate (COPPA): a neutral date-of-birth screen declines anyone under 13 gracefully at sign-up.
- No ads, no third-party trackers, no data selling. PingCircle has no reason to keep your teen scrolling, because there's nothing to scroll and no engagement metric it's trying to grow.
Taking a Break (Ghost Mode)
PingCircle has no streaks, so there's nothing to protect and nothing to lose. Ghost Mode lets your teen pause Pinging entirely (for finals, a trip, or just because) without an awkward explanation, a guilt notification, or a public "away" status. When they come back, nothing was held against them.
What Your Teen Can Actually Do
- Send one Ping a day to their circle: a glyph, an optional short line, nothing else.
- Reply to a friend's Ping in one tap.
- See their circle's home-screen widget update, without needing to open the app.
- Pause anytime with Ghost Mode.
- Block or report anyone, instantly, no explanation required.
That's the whole feature set. There is no more app underneath it.
